John believes in taking a pragmatic approach to governance, one that pursues real world solutions through civil public discourse, inclusion of diverse opinions and points of view, and active coalition building within the community. John is also committed to education of the public on the complex issues that affect us all in the Town.

Delivering educational programming to the public about community development, revitalization and affordable housing through the Hampton Bays Alliance, a civic organization he co-founded;
Balancing property owners’ interests against community impacts on the Town of Southampton Zoning Board of Appeals;
Volunteering with the Town’s East End Regional Intervention Court to help criminal defendants obtain substance abuse treatment and long-lasting sobriety; and
Providing pro bono legal services to victims of domestic violence and indigent litigants through such local charities as the Retreat.

whose decades of experience representing clients in civil lawsuits have uniquely prepared him for elected office where he will use these highly relevant skills to advance important legislative priorities like affordable housing, public safety, water quality, environmental protection, traffic mitigation and support for local businesses. Additionally, John’s experience in advising clients in settlement negotiations will serve him well in helping the Town Council reach consensus on any controversial issues that may come before it.
